BACKGROUND

On the weekend of September 19-20, 2009 in over 400 worldwide cities, yogis will be practicing yoga and raising consciousness for world peace and important environmental issues. Global Mala Yoga for Peace is a call to the worldwide yoga communities to come together to experience the power of collective practice and sacred action. The sacred action is raising funds and awareness for specific projects in three areas: global warming, AIDS, and poverty. We hope that the experience of this event will make a lasting impression into the daily lives of all participants so that they may be leaders of their life and influence others. Global Mala Boston was created in 2007 by Chanel Luck and Roberto Lim, and with the help of many friends, have hosted the 2007 and 2008 Global Malas in Boston. Prior charities of the Boston event were Trees for the Future (www.treesftf.org), The Food Project (www.thefoodproject.org) and War-Child International.
